Big home improvements will test even the most experienced homeowners. From underestimated budgets to project delays and bad quality installations, there are a number of challenges to overcome in order to ensure that your project is successful. However, the most important decision of all is finding a trustworthy installer.
Follow these four tips to find the perfect person for the job.
1. Don’t go for the cheapest company. Do go for one you have confidence in.
Some companies will attempt a hard sell and try to force you to use them in the first conversation, but hiring the first company you speak to will rarely go well.
Our installers have all been fully vetted and monitored to ensure that there are no hard sells, no gimmicks and no prices that are too good to be true. Always ensure that you compare the quality with the price when you get a quote from an installer.
Getting a free, no obligation quote is easy with the Double Glazing Network simply use our QuoteBuilder tool.
2. Don’t take their word for it. Do look for evidence.
No home improvement company is going to tell you that they’re being dishonest, so look for evidence of what they’re telling you.
Are they recommended, do they have any accreditations? Make sure that you find some unbiased customer reviews, if they are not positive or they are not readily available then carry on looking for your installer.

3. Don’t invest in any product. Do research into the product’s properties.
Much like when you’re purchasing any product, if a quote seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Make sure that you do your research into the product. Where is it manufactured? By who? Is it energy efficient? Are there any guarantees? Is it secure?
It isn’t only the installer that needs to be monitored and vetted but a good product will have accreditations too. Look for Kitemark Accreditations, ‘Energy Saving Recommended’ logos and ‘Secured by Design’ logos etc. This way you can be confident that you are investing in a product for the long term.
