The holiday season is upon us, and we all know what that means: it’s time to deck the halls! With Christmas fast approaching, many of us will be getting into the festive spirit by decorating our homes with lights, tinsel and garlands. One place you may not have considered adding some cheer is your windows – but they’re a great way of embracing the Christmas spirit without having to spruce up your entire house.

Here are some ideas of how to decorate your windows for Christmas.

Lights

First, you’re going to want to cover the window with lights – these can be real or plastic. The latter option is excellent if you have pets since they won’t get tangled in them! If you use electric lights, make sure that they are turned off when you go to bed.

Bunting

Next, consider adding a little bunting across your window frame – this is particularly effective if there’s enough space for two or three rows of fabric above the top pane. It doesn’t take long, and it will make an impact on friends and neighbours who walk past!

Snowflakes

Another idea would be to attach some snowflake shapes onto the window panes with adhesive putty – this is an excellent way of adding festive cheer without having garlands or tinsel all over your front room.

Stockings

Stockings are another popular decorating choice for windows, and they’re easy enough to make yourself by printing out an image (such as Santa), cutting it out and sticking it onto a sock. If you are crafty, get even more creative by painting your stockings or appliquéing them with beads of ribbon!

Window Markers

There is plenty of other window decorating ideas to choose from – for example, why not use window paint or window markers to some little snowmen on the glass? This is a great one for small children to get involved in. Why not get them to create their own Christmas scene with window markers. The possibilities are endless, and there’s no need to spend a fortune.
